The Week AheadMRA's game with the Christian Home Educators' Fellowship team (CHEF) has been cancelled due to the conditions in Lafayette, LA. The home schooled young men who make up this team live in and around this area. The game will not be made up. The Patriots also had 5 turnovers on the night to go along with the two costly penalties. Ben Hutton did rush for over 100 yards for the second week in a row. His 60 yard touchdown run on MRA's first play from scrimmage offered the Patriots hope early, but the offense would not be able to put any more points on the board. MRA 14 (0 - 1 overall, 0 & 0 conference) Jackson Academy 21 Thursday, August 21MRA missed several opportunities in this game to come away with a win, but the Patriots instead went down in defeat. MRA's Houston Myhan scored on a 1 yard sneak in the 2nd quarter, and Brandon Self scored from 6 yards out in the 3rd to tie the game at 14. MRA held JA to a missed field goal attempt early in the 4th quarter and felt the momentum of their 3rd quarter touchdown, but a lightning storm provided an unwanted break in the action. After the weather delay, MRA's drive stalled out and the Patriots punted to the Raiders. JA moved the ball into MRA territory before the Raider fullback broke loose on a 39 yard touchdown run. MRA's last drive of the game was a promising one, but a failed 4th down pass to the endzone gave the ball back to JA. |
