Choose MRA High School Educating the Mind, Body, and Spirit Madison Ridgeland Academy's mission statement is "Educating the Mind, Body, and Spirit." MRA's High School fulfills this mission by being a nontraditional school in a very traditional setting. Basic grammar, homework, studying, and self discipline are the foundations of success in the high school; however, we realize the uniqueness of each child and believe that we can formulate a plan to meet the needs of that child. Students have a choice in charting their academic course of study. We allow a student the opportunity to enroll in courses ahead of their traditional place in school and allow students that qualify the opportunity to enroll in college courses before graduating from MRA. Students also have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement Courses for college credit (a total of nineteen (19) AP classes) in the arts, English, math, science, social studies, psychology, and Foreign Languages. Students may choose a traditional course of study and at MRA the traditional course of study is rigorous and challenging. The student finding success in our traditional course of study will be well prepared to take on the challenges of higher education. On the other end of the spectrum, we offer resource classes, peer tutoring, and the ELS lab to assist the student who learns differently. The MRA High School encourages a well-rounded experience; therefore, the opportunity to participate in extra curricular activities such as Quiz Bowl, Math and Science Competition,
Academic Betterment Competition, Youth Legislature, and various clubs and organizations are available to the High School student. Athletic participation is also encouraged through sports teams in football, baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, golf, tennis, track, cheerleading, dance team, and cross country. For those pursuing special interest, students have the opportunity to participate in speech and communication, drama, computer programming, journalism, school paper, yearbook, art, and graphic communication. MRA was founded on and emphasizes basic Christian principles. Each day begins with a daily devotional, prayer, and pledge to The United States of America. The development of basic Christian principles is nurtured through weekly assemblies conducted by guest speakers and faculty members. Of course, we are careful not to impose denominational beliefs on our students. Madison Ridgeland Academy High School is proud of the highly qualified and certified faculty that imparts knowledge to our students. MRA is accredited by the Mississippi Private School Association and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. These two organizations ensure the highest standards of education are upheld. Not only are our faculty members certified and knowledgeable in their fields of expertise, they genuinely care about their students enough to want and expect their best. |
